Once A.J. had gotten fired from Oddjack and then went to work for Philadelphia magazine [“Former Gawker Guest Editor, Noted Skirt-Chaser A.J. Daulerio’s Video Goodbye,” February 27, 2007, 11:32am; 5,863 views], it had been a goal of mine to work with him again — also because we closed The Black Table in 2006. We were all getting too busy with other things.

I was engaged and got a job at Philadelphia magazine, which was essentially the reason why I came to New York. I wanted to write for them to begin with. So it seemed like my time there was done. I figured I’d gotten everything I wanted, and then the first day at Philadelphia magazine, I remember I literally said to myself, “A year from now I’m out of here.” I made such a huge mistake.
